Alvord Lake

Acreage: 28
Depth: 2-18 feet
Species: Rainbow Trout, Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Sunfish.
Water Type: Warm
Alvord Lake is one of the largest fishing lakes the Arizona Community Fishing Program. At 27 acres and a maximum depth of 18 feet the lake is large for being manmade. The lake is apart of Caesar Chavez park with host many play areas, casitas, and sporting fields. The lake is home to Channel Catfish, Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Sunfish, and Carp. The lake is permitted for boating however, all motors are forbidden. This lake is so big it actually feels more like a reservoir in the city. However, due to it's size fishing action can be slow in which case I recommend heading to Encanto, or Kiwanis if your luck is not at Alvord. Alvord has been known to harbor some big fish, it has been reported that a 35 pound Flathead Catfish was removed from the lake last year. If this is true then Alvord is the place to go if you are looking to catch a very large fish.
