Cold Water Fishing
The majority of Arizona's cold water fishing is done in the mountains such as the Mogollon Rim, the White Mountains, and parts of Northern Arizona. The state yields some of the most sought after cold water sport fish. The Arizona Game and Fish regularly stocks truckloads of trout into high mountain lakes and streams while they also causally stock exotic species such as Artic Grayling, Walleye, and Northern Pike. Arizona is filled with opportunities to catch cold water fish species. Most cold water fish are found in mountain lakes and streams above 6000 feet. Some are found in lower elevation areas but usually they are only stocked in the winter months when the season is similar to summer in the high elevations.
